During the unexpected disruptions of 2020, the Parish Council determined that it was financially prudent to focus all of our gift giving energies into Stewardship, to help overcome the temporary loss of other fundraising sources. Despite our strong desire to retire the $2.8M mortgage, we determined to hold off on any proactive Capital Campaign efforts during 2020. Now is the time to act! We are pleased to share the following plan to retire our mortgage once and for all:

  • Over the next three years, our parish community is going to make a final push to secure pledges and gifts that will retire our mortgage.

  • While all have already given generously, our goal is yet to be achieved. Many hands make light work, and we are seeking broad engagement in this final push, with most gifts and pledges in the $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 range, but greater and lower gifts are equally welcome.

  • Pledges can be paid now, or spread over three or five years. For example, a $5,000 pledge could be paid at $1,000 per year, or $83 per month. The table below will help you to choose a plan that works best for you and your family.

  • A 10-member committee has been formed to share in this important work. Each member will seek to secure $100,000 in pledges/gifts per year, for three years, thus eliminating our mortgage.

  • We will provide constant communication about progress in retiring our debt in all parish media (bulletins, email communications, website, social media, etc) so that we can track our progress together and fully understand what it will take to meet our goal.

  • A final and critical goal is the engagement of our youth and young adults, who represent the Stewards of tomorrow. Even at gift levels of $50 or $100, our aim is to give our youth a sense of ownership in burning our mortgage as a parish community.

Retiring our mortgage will enable our Stewards as well as our major fundraising events such as the Festival of Greece and Golf Tournament to redirect all future gift giving to Annual Stewardship and rebuilding our Endowment.

Most importantly, freeing ourselves from this debt will provide our community the financial flexibility to expand into new ministries, and meet our calling as a faithful Orthodox community serving our families and our community.

Our Capital Campaign Committee will begin reaching out to parishioners so that we can finish the job, burn the mortgage, and move into the future. However, there is no need for you to wait to be contacted.
