Ascension Cathedral – Troop 4700
Coming this Fall 2018!
We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new youth ministry here at Ascension Cathedral! Trail Life USA is a Christ-centered outdoor character development adventure program open to boys and young men aged 5–17. Boys will love the fun and adventure! Parents will love the commitment to a Christian worldview and moral consistency. Ascension Cathedral has been approved as an official charter and will integrate the program with our Orthodox Christian faith and values through the leadership of our clergy and parents of our community.
READY FOR ADVENTURE?
Most guys want exciting outdoor adventure with their friends. We’ve got that! Trips and travel? That, too. Camping. Check. Physical and mental challenge? Yep. And awards? Of course! For Trailmen at all age levels, activities are designed for adventure, learning, and leadership, all with the Christian emphasis that’s important to you.
Our younger guys learn new life skills through community outings and camping. Middle school aged Trailmen grow in their knowledge of outdoor and mountaineering skills and go on monthly excursions together to build character and teamwork. Older high school aged Trailmen will encounter ambitious and challenging outdoor adventures, travel options, and our exclusive “Freedom Experience.” Trail Life USA also has a “Summer Adventure” program, a high-octane experience combining fun with all the new skills you learn!

We believe there is something special about being in the outdoors. This enables our program to instill “Adventure, Character, and Leadership” traits in boys and young men. Camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities help build deep relationships and provide a special context for leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and character building. We also value the outdoor focus of our program as a unique means of helping a boy see and appreciate the wonder, majesty, and grandness of God as reflected in His creation.
Living the Trail Life is a journey for boys and young men established on timeless values derived from the Bible. Set in the context of outdoor adventure, each young Trailman will be challenged to build character and a lifetime of practical leadership skills. All boys are welcome irrespective of religion, race, national origin or socio-economic status. However, all adult leaders must sign a Christian statement of faith. All program elements are taught from a Christian worldview, with God’s truth woven into the very fabric of the program. Click here to sign-up
Our Program Offerings
With four levels for ages 5-25, our program is designed to support positive male relationships, spiritual growth, and servant service through a fun outdoor-based program in an age appropriate way. Starting with the Woodlands Trail for grades K-5, boys gain knowledge about outdoor skills, citizenship, character, friendship, and faith through fun activities and skill instruction with caring Christian adults leading the way. Navigators, grades 6-8, gain understanding of their values and beliefs under the guidance of godly male role models through being responsible in outdoor adventures and in their home and school life. They explore areas of interest and earn Trail Badges for advancement. Boys in grades 9-12, in our Adventurer level, mature in wisdom and faith by progressing through more difficult challenges and leadership activities with Christian men walking alongside them. They plan outdoor events, large projects, and hold leadership positions in the Troop. Lastly, Guidon (ages 18-25) provides positive peer support in the life phase as they walk with considerable challenges to their faith.

Service – God calls us to become responsible members of our community and the world through selfless acts that contribute to the welfare of others.
Stewardship – God calls us to use our God-given time, talents, and money wisely.
Integrity – God calls us to live moral lives that demonstrate an inward motivation to do what is biblically right regardless of the cost.
